Brankica, Overseas Transport, North Macedonia
At the university, I majored in the Macedonian language, my mother tongue. We have a saying: “Што е твое, ќе си дојде!” It means “What belongs to you will always seek you out!” So I am always waiting for beautiful things to find and surprise me. In fact, it was also an unexpected, chance encounter that plunged me into the world of transport back in 2011. Today I work with aircraft and ships, and relax by drawing, singing and learning about linguistic quirks. In Skopje, where I live, the people are
generous, friendly and hospitable. The girls are beautiful and the boys handsome, the forests are magical, the food is delicious and the alcoholic drinks also taste great, or so they say. That said, in my view life used to be easier overall. Children were more happygo-lucky, able to enjoy their childhoods and just be kids. On the whole, people were happier, I think. Their quality of life was better and they loved and respected each other more. My feeling is that things are going downhill nowadays. People used to place greater value on moral principles – and the music was better, too! I sometimes wish our lives were more straightforward and less stressful.
